Trudging.

"So what inspired Brand New Day?"

Some of you may recognise the song from when I posted the teaser for "One More Night" a month or so ago,

I wanted to change the title, without changing the narrative - the perspective needed correction. One More Night felt "stuck in the past" whereas the song is about freedom and the future. Brand New Day fits that perfectly.

The song is inspired by a toxic relationship - and I got to thinking about all toxic relationships, (and especially those that have been forced into escalating situations during COVID isolation)

Whether it be breaking free from an abusive partner, a bullying boss, or fair-weather friends, Brand New Day is the dawning moment and the chaotic collection of thoughts that rush through your head when you're finally able to emancipate yourself.

Standing at the edge of a dark night, with a calm determination and your own destiny in your hands.

No regrets. Lessons learned. Keep evolving; step forward and keep marching towards your own new horizon as you take your first steps into a brand new life.

It's always darkest before the dawn.

It's always coldest before the sun.

For anyone who is currently stuck in a bad situation, I wish you all a Brand New Day.

I'll leave you with the quote by Geoffrey Chaucer from one of my favourite documentaries (YES IT REALLY HAPPENED) 🤣🤣🤣 - "A Knight's Tale"

"To trudge - the slow, weary depressing yet determined walk of a man who has nothing left in his life except the impulse to simply soldier on"

I can't wait for you all to hear Brand New Day! Please share your thoughts about the song, as well as your own story to my Facebook page and tell me about your own Brand New Day moments!

Many thanks for your amazing support and much love,
